According to the latest data given by Italy Association of Shoe Industry, the output of Italian shoes manufacturer is 335 million pairs in 2002, which reduced by 10.7% then 2001, and the output value was 8.171 billion, which reduced by 5.8%.
The export of shoes reduced to 322 million pairs, 31.4 thousand pairs less then 2001, and the sum reduced by 6.22% to 6.781 billion Euro.
Because of the appreciation of Euro, the import of shoes from other countries to Italy was increasing rapidly. In 2002, Italy imported 225 million pairs of shoes, which increased by 10.65% then 2001, and the sum increased by 7.49% up to 2.24 billion Euro. The speed had reached up to the record. And the statistic data for the import of shoes 2002 shows that most shoes imported by Italy were from China, and then Roumania and Vietnam.
